Overview

SGM-101 + indocyanine green is a combination of two agents used for intraoperative fluorescence-guided surgery, particularly in the management of colorectal cancer and colorectal liver metastases. - **SGM-101** is a tumor-targeting agent consisting of a monoclonal antibody directed against carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), conjugated to a near-infrared fluorophore. It enables real-time visualization of CEA-expressing tumors during surgery by binding specifically to tumor cells overexpressing CEA and emitting fluorescence under near-infrared light[1][4][5]. - **Indocyanine green (ICG)** is a non-targeted cyanine dye that fluoresces in the near-infrared range and is widely used as an imaging agent for assessing hepatic function, blood flow, and angiography. In surgical oncology, it helps delineate anatomical structures such as bile ducts or vascular supply but does not target tumors specifically[6][10]. The combination leverages both targeted (SGM-101) and non-targeted (ICG) fluorescence to improve detection rates of malignant lesions during surgery. This dual-agent approach aims to reduce incomplete resections (R1 rate) by providing complementary information—tumor-specific labeling from SGM-101 and anatomical/vascular mapping from ICG[5][7].
