SGO1 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to target and knock down the expression of Shugoshin 1 (SGO1, also known as SGOL1), a key protein involved in protecting centromeric sister chromatid cohesion during mitosis. In laboratory research, SGO1 siRNA is widely used as a tool to investigate the role of SGO1 in chromosome segregation, spindle assembly checkpoint regulation, and cancer progression. Studies have shown that SGO1 knockdown via siRNA can inhibit the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), cell migration, and invasion in various cancer models, including triple-negative breast cancer and prostate cancer, making SGO1 a potential therapeutic target for preventing metastasis.
