Overview

SGR-4594 is an investigational, orally bioavailable small molecule inhibitor developed by Schrodinger. It targets the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn), a protein that plays a critical role in regulating the half-life of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies by preventing their lysosomal degradation. By inhibiting the binding of IgG to FcRn, SGR-4594 promotes the rapid clearance of pathogenic autoantibodies, making it a potential treatment for various IgG-mediated autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. As an oral agent, it aims to provide a more convenient alternative to existing injectable FcRn-targeted therapies, such as monoclonal antibodies. The drug is currently in preclinical development, with plans for IND submission.
