Overview

SH-114 is a ready-to-use (RTU) intravenous formulation of azacitidine, a pyrimidine nucleoside analog, developed by Shorla Oncology for the treatment of Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS). As an epigenetic modulator, azacitidine functions as a DNA methyltransferase inhibitor; upon incorporation into DNA, it covalently binds to and inhibits DNA methyltransferases, leading to DNA hypomethylation and the induction of cell differentiation or apoptosis in hematopoietic cells. The SH-114 formulation is designed to provide a stable, liquid presentation of the drug, eliminating the need for the complex reconstitution process required by the standard lyophilized powder formulation (Vidaza). This advancement is intended to improve clinical workflow efficiency and enhance provider safety by reducing the risk of accidental exposure to hazardous cytotoxic materials during preparation. SH-114 is currently in Phase 3 development.
