Overview

SH T04769G is a reduced-dose combined oral contraceptive (COC) developed by Bayer, consisting of the estrogen ethinylestradiol and the progestin dienogest. As a small molecule combination therapy, it functions primarily by inhibiting ovulation through the activation of estrogen and progesterone receptors, which suppresses the release of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) from the pituitary gland. This specific formulation was designed to provide effective contraception with a lower hormonal load compared to standard formulations like Valette (0.03 mg ethinylestradiol / 2.0 mg dienogest). It is administered orally in a 21-day active tablet regimen followed by a 7-day tablet-free interval.
