Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shanghai Life UC-MSC is an umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cell (UC-MSC) therapy developed by Shanghai Life Science & Technology. It is currently being evaluated for the treatment of left ventricular dysfunction in patients who have suffered an acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The therapy is administered via a transcatheter infusion directly into the infarct-related coronary artery. UC-MSCs are characterized by their ability to secrete a variety of bioactive molecules, including growth factors and cytokines, which exert paracrine effects that promote angiogenesis, reduce inflammation, and inhibit apoptosis of cardiomyocytes. This regenerative approach aims to improve cardiac remodeling and restore heart function following ischemic injury.
