Shankha bhasma is a traditional Ayurvedic herbo-mineral preparation derived from the incinerated shell of the conch (specifically *Turbinella pyrum* or *Xanchus pyrum*). It is primarily composed of calcium carbonate, which is converted from its aragonite form to a more bioavailable calcite form through a rigorous process of purification (Shodhana) and incineration (Marana).
