Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shaoling (also known as Shaoling Capsule or Biaozhi Shaoling) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) developed by Guizhou Bailing Enterprise Group Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris. It is formulated from several herbal ingredients, including *Smilax glabra* and *Rehmannia glutinosa*, which are traditionally used to clear heat, cool the blood, and detoxify. In the context of psoriasis, Shaoling is thought to exert its therapeutic effects through immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory mechanisms, potentially inhibiting the overproliferation of keratinocytes and reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha and IL-17. It has been a mainstay in Guizhou Bailing's dermatology portfolio and served as the basis for the development of the small molecule candidate BD-77, which is an optimized version of the active components found in Shaoling.
