Overview
Shaoma Zhijing granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Jiangsu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of pediatric tic disorders, including Tourette syndrome. The granule is composed of several herbal ingredients, traditionally including *Paeonia lactiflora* (Baishao) and *Ephedra sinica* (Mahuang), and is designed to 'extinguish wind' and 'stop tremors' according to TCM principles. It is primarily used to alleviate motor and vocal tics in children. Clinical evaluation, including Phase IV trials, has focused on its safety and efficacy in reducing scores on the Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS) compared to conventional pharmacological treatments like tiapride.
