Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SHCW-8602 (also known as SP-C01) is an orally bioavailable, small-molecule dual modulator that acts as a soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) inhibitor and a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) partial agonist. Developed by Guangdong Hongshanhu Pharmaceutical (also known as Guangdong Red Coral Pharmaceutical) in collaboration with Shenyang Pharmaceutical University and Kunming Yuanrui Pharmaceutical, SHCW-8602 is designed to treat inflammatory and neuropathic pain. By simultaneously inhibiting sEH (which prevents the degradation of anti-inflammatory epoxyeicosatrienoic acids) and partially activating PPARγ, the drug exerts synergistic anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects while potentially mitigating the side effects typically associated with full PPARγ agonists, such as fluid retention and weight gain. SHCW-8602 is currently in Phase 1 clinical development for the treatment of pain.
