SHD004

SHD004 is a recombinant biological vaccine candidate developed by Shihuida Pharmaceutical Group for the prevention of Herpes Zoster (shingles). It is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine designed to elicit a targeted immune response against the Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV), specifically by targeting the viral glycoprotein E (gE). This antigen is a major component of the viral envelope and a primary target for neutralizing antibodies and T-cell responses. SHD004 is intended to provide long-term protection against shingles and its complications, such as postherpetic neuralgia, particularly in older adults. The candidate is currently in mid-stage clinical development (Phase 2) in China.
