Overview

SHED-CM is the conditioned medium derived from stem cells obtained from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHEDs). It contains a rich secretome of bioactive factors, including growth factors such as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), and transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), as well as neurotrophic factors and cytokines. These components contribute to its regenerative, neuroprotective, angiogenic, and immunomodulatory effects. The mechanism of action involves paracrine signaling that promotes tissue repair by stimulating cell proliferation, differentiation, angiogenesis via VEGF activation of endothelial cells, modulation of immune responses through cytokine secretion and regulatory T cell induction, suppression of oxidative stress in neurons via heat shock protein upregulation and insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor activation. SHED-CM has been investigated for use in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), erectile dysfunction (by repairing vascular endothelium), oral wound healing/regeneration in nanoemulgel formulations, acute lung injury/fibrosis models in animals, and other systemic diseases with inflammatory or degenerative components[1][2][3][4][5][6].
