Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shel D-HD is an oral combination supplement containing calcium carbonate and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). It is indicated for the prevention and treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiencies, as well as the supportive management of bone-related conditions such as osteoporosis and osteomalacia. Calcium carbonate serves as a source of elemental calcium, which is vital for maintaining bone density, skeletal integrity, and normal muscle and nerve function. Cholecalciferol is metabolized in the body to its active form, calcitriol, which binds to the vitamin D receptor (VDR) to stimulate intestinal calcium absorption. Together, these components work synergistically to support bone mineralization and reduce the risk of fractures.
