Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shema oral liquid is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) approved for the treatment of respiratory diseases. It is a combination of ten different herbal ingredients. Preclinical studies in a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced rat model of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have shown that Shema oral liquid ameliorates the severity of COPD by inhibiting inflammatory responses, improving pulmonary ventilatory function, and alleviating LPS-induced lung injury. Its therapeutic mechanism involves the downregulation of DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1) expression in lung tissue, and it also suppresses the levels of inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1 beta, interleukin-6, and tumor necrosis factor alpha.
