Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shen Ge Fang (参葛方) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula, primarily composed of ginseng and gecko, that has been investigated for its potential therapeutic effects in various conditions. Studies suggest its efficacy in treating metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) and heart failure. For MAFLD, network pharmacology indicates that its active ingredients may modulate targets such as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARA), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARG), and interleukin-6 (IL-6). In the context of heart failure, Shen Ge Fang's cardioprotective mechanisms are thought to involve the modulation of the Akt/HIF-1α/p53 pathway, inhibiting detrimental processes and promoting protective ones. Additionally, it may downregulate angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R), NADPH oxidase 2 and 4, and inhibit the TGF-β/Smads and RhoA/ROCK1 pathways, contributing to improved cardiac function and reduced myocardial hypertrophy.
