Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shen Qi Gui is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation primarily composed of *Panax ginseng* (or *Codonopsis pilosula*), *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huang Qi), and *Angelica sinensis* (Dang Gui). It is utilized in integrative oncology to manage cancer-related fatigue (CRF), particularly in patients with advanced malignancies such as stage IV lung cancer undergoing chemotherapy. The formula is hypothesized to work by modulating the immune system, enhancing hematopoietic function, and addressing the "Qi and Blood deficiency" syndrome common in cancer patients. A prospective clinical study led by West China Hospital of Sichuan University has investigated its efficacy in alleviating fatigue symptoms and improving quality of life in patients receiving platinum-based doublet chemotherapy.
