Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shen-Yuan-Dan (SYD) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation, typically administered as a capsule (SYDC), used for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases including atherosclerosis, angina pectoris, and coronary heart disease. It functions by promoting autophagy and inhibiting the PI3K/Akt/mTORC1 signaling pathway, which reduces foam cell formation and inflammatory responses in the vascular endothelium. Furthermore, SYD acts as an epigenetic modulator by inhibiting DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1), leading to the demethylation of the Atg13 promoter and subsequent upregulation of autophagy-related proteins. Clinical studies have evaluated its efficacy in preventing periprocedural myocardial injury and improving microcirculatory dysfunction in patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
