Shenduqing

Shenduqing is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, primarily administered as a retention enema. It is specifically indicated for the treatment of non-dialysis patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stages 3 to 5. As a hospital-made preparation, it is designed to improve TCM symptom scores and stabilize renal function by promoting the intestinal excretion of metabolic wastes such as serum creatinine and urea nitrogen. The formulation typically leverages the 'intestinal clearance' theory in TCM to reduce the accumulation of uremic toxins and mitigate systemic inflammation, thereby delaying the progression of renal failure in patients who have not yet reached the stage of requiring dialysis.
