Overview
Shenghua Decoction (Sheng-Hua-Tang) is a traditional Chinese herbal formula widely utilized in East Asian medicine for postpartum recovery. The standard formulation consists of five botanical ingredients: *Angelica sinensis* (Dang Gui), *Ligusticum chuanxiong* (Chuan Xiong), *Prunus persica* (Tao Ren), *Zingiber officinale* (charred ginger), and *Glycyrrhiza uralensis* (licorice). It is traditionally indicated to promote uterine involution, facilitate the discharge of lochia, and alleviate postpartum pain by "activating blood" and "resolving stasis." Clinical investigations, such as those conducted at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital, have examined its physiological effects on the uterus and its potential association with adverse events like delayed postpartum hemorrhage.
