Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shengjin gargling solution is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal mouth rinse developed for the management of thirst (xerostomia) and oral health in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) undergoing maintenance peritoneal dialysis. The formulation is based on the TCM principle of 'Shengjin,' which refers to the promotion of body fluid production to alleviate dryness. It is used topically as a gargle to stimulate saliva production, reduce the sensation of thirst, and assist patients in adhering to necessary fluid intake restrictions. The efficacy of the solution has been evaluated in clinical studies, often in combination with complementary techniques such as auricular acupressure, to improve oral hygiene and overall quality of life in the dialysis population.
