Overview
Shengjin Runkou Yin is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital-made preparation (院内制剂) developed by the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of Sjögren's syndrome and other conditions characterized by xerostomia (dry mouth) and dry throat. The formula is designed to nourish Yin and promote the production of body fluids (Shengjin). It typically contains herbal ingredients such as *Ophiopogon japonicus*, *Scrophularia ningpoensis*, and *Rehmannia glutinosa*. Clinical use focuses on relieving symptoms of dryness by improving salivary gland function and oral mucosal moisture. Research suggests that the formula may exert its therapeutic effects by upregulating the expression of water channel proteins, specifically Aquaporin-5 (AQP5), in the salivary glands.
