Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shengmai Yin is a classical traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula composed of three primary herbal ingredients: *Panax ginseng* (Ginseng), *Ophiopogon japonicus* (Ophiopogon root), and *Schisandra chinensis* (Schisandra fruit). Traditionally used to replenish Qi, nourish Yin, and astringe sweat, it is widely utilized in modern clinical practice for cardiovascular conditions such as chronic heart failure, coronary heart disease, and hypotension. The formula is also recognized for its neuroprotective properties, particularly in the context of ophthalmic diseases. It is believed to improve microcirculation, reduce oxidative stress, and inhibit apoptosis in retinal ganglion cells, which has led to its investigation as a potential treatment for normal tension glaucoma. Shengmai Yin is typically administered as an oral liquid, though other formulations like capsules and injections exist.
