Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shengyang Yiwei Tang (升阳益胃汤) is a traditional Chinese herbal formula developed by Li Dongyuan, a prominent physician from the Jin-Yuan Dynasty. Traditionally, it is used to address conditions stemming from spleen and stomach deficiency, damp-heat stagnation in the middle jiao, and the inability of clear Yang to ascend. Symptoms treated include lethargy, weakness of limbs, body heaviness and joint pain, bitter taste in the mouth, dry tongue, tasteless food, indigestion, irregular bowel movements, frequent urination, and certain lung-related symptoms like aversion to cold and general malaise. Modern research, particularly through network pharmacology, has explored its potential in treating chronic kidney disease (CKD), including chronic glomerulonephritis, latent glomerulonephritis, urinary tract infection, and chronic renal insufficiency. This research suggests that the formula's active components, such as astragalus, ginseng, pinellia ternata, and coptis chinensis, exert therapeutic effects through multi-component, multi-target, and multi-pathway mechanisms, influencing various signaling pathways relevant to kidney health.
