Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shenhua Capsule (参华胶囊) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) preparation developed by the Institute of Pharmacology at the Fourth Military Medical University of the People's Liberation Army of China. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of stable angina pectoris, coronary heart disease, and hypertension. The formulation is a combination of total saponins extracted from *Panax ginseng* (Ginseng) and extracts from *Salsola collina* (a plant known for its antihypertensive properties). Pharmacologically, Shenhua Capsule is designed to improve myocardial ischemia, reduce myocardial oxygen consumption, and inhibit platelet aggregation. It also exhibits vasodilatory effects that contribute to its antihypertensive and anti-anginal efficacy. Clinical studies in China have demonstrated its ability to alleviate symptoms such as chest pain and palpitations while improving electrocardiogram (ECG) markers in patients with ischemic heart disease.
