Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shenkang Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily used for the treatment of chronic renal failure (CRF) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). It typically consists of a combination of botanical ingredients, including *Rheum palmatum* (Rhubarb), *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Red Sage), *Astragalus membranaceus* (Astragalus), and *Carthamus tinctorius* (Safflower). The decoction is intended to improve renal function, reduce levels of serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and delay the progression of kidney disease. It is often used as an adjuvant therapy alongside standard treatments like hemodialysis. Clinical trials, such as those conducted by the First People's Hospital of Zunyi, have evaluated its efficacy in improving clinical outcomes for patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis.
