Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shenkang Shuan is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal suppository developed and manufactured by Xi'an Century Shenkang Pharmaceutical Industry. It is a multi-herb formulation composed of four primary botanical ingredients: rhubarb (*Rheum palmatum*), salvia (*Salvia miltiorrhiza*), safflower (*Carthamus tinctorius*), and astragalus (*Astragalus membranaceus*). The medication is specifically indicated for the treatment of chronic renal insufficiency resulting from chronic nephritis, chronic pyelonephritis, and hypertensive nephropathy. Administered rectally, the formulation is designed to promote blood circulation, resolve blood stasis, and facilitate the excretion of nitrogenous waste (descending turbidity) through the rectal mucosa. As a complex TCM product, its therapeutic effects are attributed to the synergistic action of various phytochemicals, such as anthraquinones and tanshinones, rather than a single molecular target.
