Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shenlong Jianji (Chinese name: 参龙煎剂颗粒) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound granule formulation. It is composed of multiple herbal ingredients including Codonopsis pilosula (党参), Asparagus cochinchinensis (天冬), Dioscorea opposita (山药), Prunus persica seed (桃仁), Curcuma longa (姜黄), Poria cocos (茯苓), Cinnamomum cassia twig (桂枝), Citrus reticulata segment membrane (橘络), Lumbricus terrestris dried body ("earthworm", 地龙), and Polygonum multiflorum stem (首乌藤). The preparation involves decocting these herbs, concentrating the extract, and spray-drying to form granules. Shenlong Jianji is primarily used for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis during remission periods in TCM practice. Its mechanism of action is based on the synergistic effects of its herbal components, which are believed in TCM theory to tonify Qi, nourish Yin, promote blood circulation, resolve stasis, and relieve symptoms associated with lung fibrosis[1]. Modern pharmacological mechanisms have not been fully elucidated; its effects are attributed to multi-target modulation typical for complex herbal formulas.
