Overview
Shenmai Injection is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation composed of extracts from *Panax ginseng* and *Ophiopogon japonicus*. It is primarily used in China for treating cardiovascular diseases such as chronic heart failure, coronary heart disease, and shock. The preparation is standardized to contain specific ginsenosides and ophiopogonins. Its mechanism of action involves improving myocardial energy metabolism, enhancing cardiac contractility, and exerting anti-inflammatory effects. Recent clinical research, such as that conducted by Tongde Hospital of Zhejiang Province, has investigated its role in modulating microRNA-126 levels in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) to improve endothelial function and vascular health.
