Overview
Shenmai Baofei Fang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily utilized for the treatment of chronic respiratory diseases, most notably Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and pulmonary fibrosis. The formula is an evolution of the classical Shenmai San, traditionally composed of *Panax ginseng* and *Ophiopogon japonicus*, which are intended to tonify Qi and nourish Yin. Shenmai Baofei Fang is specifically designed to address the 'Qi and Yin deficiency' pattern in TCM, aiming to improve lung function, reduce systemic and local airway inflammation, and alleviate clinical symptoms such as dyspnea and chronic cough. Research indicates that the formula may exert its therapeutic effects by modulating inflammatory cytokines and inhibiting fibrotic signaling pathways in lung tissue.
