Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shenqi Jiangzhi is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily composed of *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi) and *Panax ginseng* (Renshen), along with other herbs such as *Polygonum multiflorum* and *Crataegus pinnatifida*. While it is traditionally used and approved in China for the treatment of hyperlipidemia (as indicated by the name "Jiangzhi," meaning lipid-lowering), it is currently being investigated for its efficacy in treating non-motor symptoms (NMS) of Parkinson's disease. Developed and studied by researchers at Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the formula is hypothesized to provide neuroprotection and alleviate symptoms such as fatigue, sleep disturbances, and gastrointestinal issues by tonifying Qi and resolving phlegm-stasis according to TCM principles.
