Overview
Shenqi Particle is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation consisting of ten herbal extracts, with *Astragalus membranaceus* and *Angelica sinensis* serving as the primary active components. It is specifically utilized for the treatment of idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN) and other chronic glomerular diseases. The therapeutic effect is attributed to its ability to reduce proteinuria, protect podocytes, and inhibit renal fibrosis through the modulation of inflammatory pathways such as NF-κB and the inhibition of pro-fibrotic cytokines like TGF-β1. In a significant multicenter randomized controlled trial published in the American Journal of Kidney Diseases, Shenqi Particle demonstrated efficacy comparable to the standard cyclophosphamide and prednisone regimen in achieving clinical remission of IMN, while maintaining a superior safety profile with fewer adverse events.
