Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shenqu Weitong Pian is a combination pharmaceutical product that integrates traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with Western chemical antacids, developed and manufactured by Guilin Pharmaceutical Group. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of gastric pain, hyperacidity (stomach acid), and indigestion. The formulation typically contains Massa Medicata Fermentata (Shenqu), which acts as a digestive aid, alongside aluminum hydroxide and magnesium trisilicate, which serve as chemical antacids to neutralize excess gastric acid and protect the stomach lining. Additionally, it often includes belladonna extract, which provides antispasmodic effects by antagonizing muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, thereby reducing gastrointestinal smooth muscle spasms and associated pain. This multi-component approach addresses both the chemical environment of the stomach and the physical symptoms of dyspepsia.
