Overview
Shenshao tablet is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation composed of extracts from *Panax ginseng* (Ginseng) and *Paeonia lactiflora* (Red Peony Root). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic ischemic heart failure and coronary heart disease, specifically for patients diagnosed with 'qi deficiency and blood stasis' syndrome. The drug is used as an adjunctive therapy to improve exercise tolerance, cardiac function, and clinical symptoms. Its pharmacological profile includes the improvement of myocardial microcirculation, reduction of blood viscosity, and protection of cardiomyocytes from ischemic damage. The First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine has been involved in evaluating its efficacy in Phase 4 clinical trials.
