Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shenshi Shengdiqinlian Tufuling Decoction is a specialized traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital for the treatment of Behcet's disease (Silk Road disease). The decoction is formulated based on the TCM principles of clearing heat, detoxifying, and promoting the drainage of dampness to address the systemic inflammatory nature of the condition. Its primary herbal constituents include *Rehmannia glutinosa* (Shengdi), *Scutellaria baicalensis* (Huangqin), *Coptis chinensis* (Huanglian), and *Smilax glabra* (Tufuling). These ingredients contain active compounds such as baicalin, berberine, and astilbin, which have been shown to modulate the immune system by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-alpha, IL-1 beta, and IL-6, and suppressing the NF-kappaB signaling pathway. The formula is typically used to manage clinical symptoms such as recurrent oral and genital ulcerations and ocular inflammation.
