Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shenshuikang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily used for the treatment of chronic renal failure (CRF) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). It is typically composed of several herbal ingredients, including *Rheum palmatum* (Rhubarb), *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Salvia miltiorrhiza*, *Paeonia lactiflora*, and *Carthamus tinctorius*. The mechanism of action involves reducing nitrogenous waste (such as urea nitrogen and creatinine), improving renal blood flow, and exerting anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects on kidney tissue. It is often prescribed to patients with spleen and kidney yang deficiency accompanied by damp-heat and blood stasis. The drug is approved in China and is manufactured by several companies, most notably Shaanxi Buchang Pharmaceuticals.
