Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shentong Granules (also known as Shen Tong Zhu Yu Tang) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula developed by Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is classified as a "move blood" herbal formula and contains multiple herbs such as Qin Jiao (Largeleaf Gentian Root), Chuan Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizome), Tao Ren (Peach Kernel), Hong Hua (Carthamus Flower), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Qiang Huo (Notopterygium Rhizome and Root), Mo Yao (Myrrh), Dang Gui (Chinese Angelica Root), Di Long (Earthworm), Niu Xi (Achyranthes Root), Xiang Fu Cyperus Rhizome, and Wu Ling Zhi Squirrel’s Droppings[4][7][9]. The primary indication is to invigorate the circulation of Qi and blood, remove blood stagnation in the channels and collaterals, relieve obstruction due to Qi and blood stagnation. Modern research suggests it may inhibit inflammatory response, migration, invasion of cells such as RA-FLS via the MAPK p38/PPARγ/CTGF pathway[3][5]. It has also been studied for its effects on ankylosing spondylitis through modulation of NLRP3/Caspase-1 signaling pathway[5].
