Overview

The Shenzhen trivalent influenza vaccine (Shz-IIV3) is a split-virion trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine developed by Sanofi Pasteur at its facility in Shenzhen, China. It is designed to prevent seasonal influenza by targeting the hemagglutinin (HA) surface proteins of three influenza virus strains (typically two influenza A subtypes and one influenza B lineage), updated annually according to WHO recommendations. Produced according to Chinese pharmacopeia, it is bio-comparative to Sanofi's global Vaxigrip product but manufactured without hydrocortisone. The vaccine stimulates the production of neutralizing antibodies and generates memory B and T cells to provide immunity. It is administered via intramuscular injection and is approved in China for individuals aged 6 months and older.
