Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shenzhuo Formula (also known as Shenzhuo Decoction) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed for the treatment of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). The formula is composed of six primary ingredients: *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi), *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen), *Hirudo* (Leech), *Rheum palmatum* (Raw Rhubarb), *Epimedium*, and *Leonurus japonicus* (Motherwort). It is designed based on the 'Yiqi Jiangzhuo Huoxue Tongluo' therapeutic method, which focuses on supplementing Qi, clearing turbidity, and improving blood circulation to the kidneys. Clinical trials, including those conducted by Guang'anmen Hospital and Hangzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, evaluate the formula's ability to reduce proteinuria, improve glomerular filtration rates, and delay the progression to end-stage renal disease in patients with type 2 diabetes.
