Shexiang Tongxin Dropping Pills

Shexiang Tongxin Dropping Pills (STDP) is a multi-component Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation approved by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in 2008. It is composed of seven primary ingredients: Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge (radix salvia), Moschus (artificial musk), Bovis Calculus Artifactus (artificial cow-bezoar), Bufonis Venenum (toad skin secretion cake), Borneolum Syntheticum (borneol), total ginsenoside of ginseng stems and leaves, and Fel Ursi (bear bile powder). STDP is used clinically to treat cardiovascular conditions such as coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, and coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD). Its therapeutic mechanism involves activating blood circulation, modulating lipid metabolism, and providing endothelial protection through anti-inflammatory and antioxidant pathways. Recent clinical research, including trials led by Peking University Third Hospital, has investigated its efficacy in improving coronary microcirculation (measured by the index of microcirculatory resistance) in patients with acute anterior ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
