Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SHG-31 is a synthetic dibenzalacetone derivative compound being developed by researchers at the University of Hertfordshire as a potential therapeutic agent for glioblastoma. In preclinical in vitro studies using glioblastoma cell lines (A172 and U87MG), SHG-31 demonstrated significant anti-cancer properties, including the induction of cell death, inhibition of cell proliferation and colony formation, and delay of tumor cell migration. Mechanistically, SHG-31 treatment has been shown to induce apoptosis, which is associated with the upregulation of apoptotic genes such as BAX and CASP3 (Caspase-3).
