shGPX3-41 is a specific short hairpin RNA (shRNA) designed to silence the expression of extracellular glutathione peroxidase GPX3. Research indicates that high expression of GPX3 is associated with poor patient outcomes in ovarian serous adenocarcinomas and protects ovarian cancer cells from oxidative stress. shGPX3-41 is utilized in preclinical studies, including in vivo mouse models, to investigate the necessity of GPX3 for tumor establishment and to identify its downstream pro-tumorigenic functions in ovarian cancer. Knockdown of GPX3 by shGPX3-41 has been shown to abrogate clonogenicity and intraperitoneal tumor development.
