Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shi-Wei-Jian-Fei Recipe (SWJF) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine for the treatment of obesity. The name "Shi-Wei" indicates that the formula is composed of ten distinct herbal ingredients, a common naming convention in TCM for complex botanical mixtures. It is currently being evaluated in multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials to assess its efficacy in reducing body weight and improving metabolic parameters in obese patients. Like many TCM weight-loss interventions, its therapeutic mechanism is thought to involve the synergistic effects of its constituent herbs on lipid metabolism, appetite regulation, and insulin sensitivity, although specific molecular targets for the complete formulation are not fully characterized.
