Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shi-Xiao-San is a classic traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula, also known as Sudden Smile Powder, primarily composed of Pollen Typhae (Pu Huang) and Faeces Trogopterori (Wu Ling Zhi). It is traditionally indicated for promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, and alleviating pain. In modern clinical research, it is being investigated by Longhua Hospital and the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for its potential therapeutic effects in primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), particularly when used in combination with Er-Zhi-Wan Pill and standard ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) therapy. The formula is hypothesized to address the blood stasis component of PBC pathology and provide anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic benefits.
