Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Shigella sonnei-CRM9** is an investigational, monovalent glycoconjugate vaccine designed to prevent shigellosis caused by *Shigella sonnei*. It consists of the *S. sonnei* O-specific polysaccharide portion of lipopolysaccharide covalently linked to CRM9, a detoxified mutant diphtheria toxin carrier protein. Conjugation converts the polysaccharide antigen into a T-cell-dependent immunogen, promoting anti-lipopolysaccharide IgG responses, immunologic memory, and serotype-specific protection. The vaccine was evaluated by intramuscular administration in adults and young children and was included in a completed Phase 3 Israeli study of improved Shigella conjugate vaccines; it has not become a licensed product.
