Overview
ShigETEC is an investigational **oral live-attenuated bacterial vaccine** developed to prevent diarrhoeal disease caused by *Shigella* and enterotoxigenic *Escherichia coli* (ETEC). It is an engineered, non-invasive *Shigella* strain lacking the variable lipopolysaccharide O-antigen and expressing ETEC toxoid antigens: the heat-labile enterotoxin B subunit and a detoxified heat-stable enterotoxin variant. The design aims to expose conserved *Shigella* antigens for broad serotype-independent immunity while eliciting neutralizing antibodies against ETEC enterotoxins.
