Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a mixed Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula consisting of three distinct classical formulas: Shin-yi-san (also known as Xin-yi-san), Xiao-qing-long-tang, and Xiang-sha-liu-jun-zi-tang. Developed and studied by Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan, this combination is specifically investigated for the treatment of perennial allergic rhinitis. The formula exerts its therapeutic effects through complex immunomodulatory mechanisms, including the modulation of dendritic cells, CD4+ T lymphocytes, neutrophils, and regulatory B cells. It has been shown to suppress the expression of activation markers like HLA-DR, CD40, CD54, and CD86 on dendritic cells, while simultaneously enhancing the production of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 and reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-4, IL-5, and IL-12. Additionally, research focuses on its impact on the gut microbiota as a potential pathway for immune regulation in allergic patients.
