Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Shinbaro + non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)** refers to the combination therapy of Shinbaro, a standardized herbal formulation approved in South Korea for osteoarthritis, with NSAIDs such as celecoxib. Shinbaro is a purified extract of six oriental herbs: Ledebouriellae Radix, Achyranthis Radix, Acanthopanacis Cortex, Cibotii Rhizoma, Glycine Semen, and Eucommiae Cortex. This combination aims to provide enhanced anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects while potentially reducing the required dosage and side effects of NSAIDs. Scientific studies, including controlled animal models, show that co-administration with celecoxib (a selective COX-2 inhibitor) results in a synergistic reduction of pain and swelling, mediated through inhibition of monocyte-to-macrophage conversion, suppressed inflammatory cytokine production, and reduced spinal microglial activation. The combination is being investigated as an alternative or adjunct strategy for inflammatory pain management, especially for conditions such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis[2][4].
