Shirishadi compound

Shirishadi compound is a polyherbal Ayurvedic preparation investigated for its therapeutic potential in managing asthma and allergic disorders. It is composed of extracts from three plants: Albizia lebbeck (Shirisha), Cyperus rotundus (Nagarmotha), and Solanum xanthocarpum or Solanum surattense (Kantakari). Clinical studies have evaluated its efficacy in both acute and chronic bronchial asthma when administered as a nebulized aerosol and orally. Research suggests that the compound exhibits multiple pharmacological activities, including bronchodilator, anti-inflammatory, antihistaminic (H1 receptor antagonism), mast cell stabilizing, and immunomodulatory effects.
