Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shisanwei Hezhong Wan (十三味和中丸) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) multi-herbal formula used primarily for the treatment of functional dyspepsia, particularly the subtype characterized by "disharmony between liver and stomach" (肝胃不和型功能性消化不良). The formula contains thirteen herbal ingredients and is designed to regulate liver qi, harmonize the stomach, relieve symptoms such as abdominal discomfort, bloating, and improve quality of life in affected patients. Its mechanism involves multi-target modulation through various pathways including neural and humoral regulation. Clinical studies have shown that it can significantly improve clinical symptoms and quality of life in patients with this TCM-defined syndrome[1][2]. The precise pharmacological mechanisms are not fully elucidated but are believed to involve gastrointestinal motility regulation and anti-inflammatory effects.
