Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Shiwei Anchang** (also known as Shiwei Anchang granules) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Class 1.1 innovative drug developed jointly by Kanion Pharmaceutical, Shanghai Tufeng Pharmaceutical Technology, Liaoning Beifeng Pharmaceutical, and the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Formulated as granules, it is designed for the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC), specifically targeting the 'spleen deficiency and dampness-accumulation' (脾虚湿蕴) syndrome under TCM theory. Shiwei Anchang exhibits therapeutic effects by strengthening the spleen, clearing the intestines, and stopping diarrhea. In preclinical models of dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced and 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced colitis, the drug significantly reduced disease activity, improved mucosal and crypt damage, and alleviated inflammatory infiltration and fibrosis. In October 2026, the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China approved its Investigational New Drug (IND) application to initiate clinical trials for ulcerative colitis.
